Today in the USA there are an estimated 500,000 abandoned mines!
Granted, not all of these are former gold mines. But a great number are exactly that, especially in

rampant mercury, cyanide and other toxic substances which escaped, were dumped or blatantly
disregarded as harmful to the environment.
Still today in Brazil and other locations, even large companies and major chemical reagent
manufacturers are knowingly selling, involved in, or promoting these dangerous techniques as valid,
despite worldwide complaints and the eventual legal actions which always follow these outrageous
patterns of behavior.....
