"Let's get some Platinum!
The preparation of the metal is first.
This means cutting off one end of the Converter housing with a metal cutting blade, using any type
metal-cutting saw. Do not use standard wood-cutting blades, as they will shatter or fling filings at you
at light speed.
Wear long-sleeve shirts, overalls, face shield or at least plastic shop glasses to protect your eyes from
metal splinters.
After the end of the Cat-Converter is cut off, the ceramic block inside (or beads) can be removed.
Sometimes this means a bit of coaxing. Hard cases may have to have both ends cut off to drive it out
with a wooden block and mallet....."
"1. The leach powder involves our own chemical (IPTL-1), a leach as strong as Aqua Regia, but without
the hazards of this chemical combination.. It is still poisonous and must be handled with respect.
Leach powder is added; 1/2 leach powder, 1/2 warm distilled water into a glass container and allowed to
completely dissolve for 30 minutes, at which time it is poured into the leach tank over the C/C powder,
and a small nylon prop on a stainless steel shaft made to slowly stir the slurry. Your "Leach Tank" can
be a 5-gallon plastic bucket. If it is too thick , add more distilled water to thin it down. This powdered
leach can be shipped NO HAZMAT, unlike Nitric Acid."
"Little-Known Factoid;
Platinum will melt at the temperature of lead
Add the Platinum slowly, to the melted lead. This is a secret technique used by metallurgists to recover
precious metals at lower furnace temperatures than the pure precious metals call for. Afterwards, , the
mixed, molten metal is poured into cold water to create "Shot". This is then placed back into Aqua Regia
for digestion. After the metals all dissolve, the platinum is brought back out of solution, precipitated as
described above.."
