River Prospecting with
Oakton Testers
The PH Meter, ORP Meter, TDS Meter and a freshly-made
Stannous Chloride solution with eyedropper are part of the
indispensable kit one uses when geo-prospecting on gold properties.
ORP Meter
Measures the Oxygen Reduction Potential.
Tells you when metals can be leached from aqueous solutions.

$186.00 includes  S/H within USA
TDS Meter
Measures solids in water.  More solids (salts) equals more metals in the rivers, creeks, lakes, solutions,
leaches and other mixtures.

$80.00 includes S/H within USA
Ph Meter
lets you know when the water is acid or basic.
Good in any water-based solution.

$73.00 includes S/H within USA

By testing with these meters, one can define whether that river, creek, tailings pond, flooded mine,
lake, beach or other waters have suspended or dissolved metals in them. Waters that read below
7Ph are "Acid", and are often carrying dissolved metals.

Further tests with the Stannous Chloride will tell you whether the waters have gold, silver or
platinums in them...

High readings on all 4 reveal the presence of precious metals that are recoverable, with the right
technology.

Such a thing was not possible in the past, but today, with fewer properties available yearly,
increasingly draconian laws to prevent the common man from prospecting...it becomes more
important to learn new skills to continue to recover gold when we wish, and increase our incomes to
match.  "Learn and Earn"
Although we continue to find new sources of gold in unlikely places, it is best to start where known
gold-bearing rivers and streams exist, to practice this unique and unusual art of geo-prospecting.

All of the techniques used in river-water prospecting are just as applicable when testing soils, ores
or leaches.

A small water sample of any, plus a drop of the Stannous Chloride will give you a dark purple or
black coloration for gold...and a Red or violet one for Platinums.

Keep in mind that river waters, without boiling them down for a better look, may give only a pale
version of the indicative test colors, but will prove that they are there.

Waters that test high for gold or platinums can be recovered with carbon, or other means, through
filtration or direct leaching, depending on the particle sizes, interfering sulfates and carbons, or
excessive sediments.  Each case has to be weighed on it's own merits, and the right application made

Many people are presently choosing this form of recovery, adapting various parts of these
recovery strategies to fit the opportunity.  Those discovering gold in streams, positioning properly
at early stages of recovery may come to dominate in this field.  At the moment it is open to anyone
with vision enough to prepare and learn
.
Finding Gold in Rivers
Below are several links you can explore to show you what might be considered "Rich"
areas, with known gold and other precious metals in water. Whatever style of recovery you
choose...whether weekend or professional, these can get you started in the right direction.

Remember if you are going into the wild to take a cell phone, GPS locater, emergency
backpack and portable shelter, water, etc., in addition to one of our
gold kits for testing
water...and a PH meter or PH Test strips, so you will know how to recover from it.
Take lots of "Zip-Locks" and a marking pen for sample ores and vegetations, etc.
Pass along other "Good Rivers" and we will post them here for others.
We are all in this together!
